I've heard that it'south not good to use solvents/chemicals because they get out residue which prevents good adhesion when you get to mucilage on the new cloth.
I used steel wire wheels operated via a rotary tool, in my instance a dremel, with a steady and careful paw to completely get rid of the orange. It takes a while, but it can be washed. You might desire to wear a dust mask or something (respirator maybe?), and safety glasses, not just to stay rubber from the glue dust, but to protect your eyes from the fiddling steel wires that volition occasionally shoot out from the wire wheel bit.
Merely curious, how are yous applying the new fabric, and what fabric will you use?

I am getting new OE replacement material of the same color and foam back fabric material from headliner express. Their price is bit high, but they have a bully reputation in BMW forums and their fabric exactly matches the texture and color of the current headliner. Their kit comes with adhesives which I probably use to glue the new cloth or I may apply 3M foam fast 74 orange gum which I already accept with me..

If that'south the instance, then my headliner already looks make clean enough for the new gum..have been successful in brushing off the orange foamy stuff even so accept a gummy residue left though..
Ya, I heard the 3M Foam 74 is best even though information technology doesn't really say on the can that it is made for headliners..
